Art Supplies
For many, if not most, bringing a scetch book(s) and a simple set of watercolors will be enough for your artistic endeavors and enough for Marian to help you with improving your art skills. Much time is spent photographing, scetching and discussing art. For most that means that larger, more time consuming works of art will be accomplished when they return home

Do I need a dress or skirt..or rain wear? Do you think it will be cold?
I usually expect a rain storm there so bring a light raincoatyou can wear it on the plane for warmth. Always plan for warm & cold as you never know. I travel as lightly as possibleneed to these days especially. So I take two turtle necks I can wash out by hand (including my one on plane)a few short sleeve t shirt types, a pair of long shorts, a long pants thing & may take a skirt that takes up no room in the casea nightshirt, a few pairs of underpants & one extra bra I can wash out & a cardigan thing a m-jig. I am one of those who travel in black because it is easier. Maybe a scarf or two to dress stuff up. Two pairs of walking shoes, one being a sandal only because my feet insist on good shoes and maybe some better sandals for evening if I have room. I dont plan on being a beauty queenI plan way ahead for packing as it takes many days ahead to go light I firmly believe. I truly take only necessities. You can tuck your painting stuff in bottom of case and carry on some of itcertainly your brushes and travel palette with paint in it and a pad & sketch book which you can use en route. That way should your suit case be delayed you wont be up a tree. Just remember you will be toting your own stuff and lifting it on and off the train in Rome so you really want to be lightotherwise you will be like many others I have traveled with who forget how tough it is to hoist their own baggage.
