Pick-up and Drop-off at Rome Airport

If you go into Rome early, you take the train back to the airport on Sept 4th early so you can be there at least by 9:45 or earlier and walk to the customs area of the airport where you will meet the La Romita bus and the participants who will be waiting there wearing their La Romita badges. The price of a train ticket from the airport to the Rome termini—14 Euros each way. You have to validate your ticket before you get on the train by the way—there are boxes to stick it in along the area where you get on.
For those who fly in the morning of the 4th, the bus driver will have a list of times of arrival of all passengers and will wait up to an hour or so if a plane is late in arriving. If their plane is way late as was ours one year, we call La Romita (we are given all the emergency phone #’s) & tell them to meet us in Terni and then walk to the train station and take it up—the express train you will want. The train station is walking distance at the airport and the only difficulty is you have to go down a grand staircase and up the other side so it’s hard if you have a big suitcase—reason why I recommend two small ones or at least one you can maneuver up & down stairs and onto a train. I have a picture of the train ticket so people can understand how it works should they need to use the train.

Carol Dixon:I am staying on the 3rd at the Courtyard (by Marriott) Rome Airport (actually in Fiumicino) on via portuense flumicino phone 39-06-999351. There is a shuttle from the airport to the hotel that is $6.00. You don't need to make reservations when you arrive but you do need to reserve on the leaving day.I leave SF on British airways and arrive in rome 16:10 on Sep 3
